*REVIEW*Flat Out Matt By Jessica Park

March 25, 2013

*Please note: This is not a full retelling of Flat-Out Love, but rather a companion piece with select FOL chapters, and it is meant for readers who know the story very well.*

Matt is a junior at MIT. He’s geeky, he's witty, he's brilliant.

And he’s also very, very stupid.

When beautiful, cool, insightful Julie moves in with Matt’s family, why (oh why!) does he pretend to be his absent brother Finn for her alleged benefit?

It seems harmless enough until her short-term stay becomes permanent. And until it snowballs into heart-squeezing insanity. And until he falls in love with Julie, and Julie falls in love with Finn.

But … Matt is the right one for her. If only he can make Julie see it. Without telling her the truth, without shattering them all. Particularly his fragile sister Celeste, who may need Julie the most.

You saw Matt through Julie’s eyes in FLAT-OUT LOVE. Now go deeper into Matt’s world in this FLAT-OUT MATT novella. Live his side of the story, break when his heart breaks, and fall for the unlikely hero all over again.

Take an emotional skydive for two prequel chapters and seven FLAT-OUT LOVE chapters retold from his perspective, and then land with a brand-new steamy finale chapter from Julie.

Author’s Note: Two chapters, The Sleepover and Keep Going, contain more mature content than Flat-Out Love (Keep Going, in particular), and were written based on reader demand. They wouldn’t have fit in well with the original Flat-Out Love, but given that this is a fan-driven companion piece, I think they work. While the content here is upped at bit, the scenes are tastefully done. (So, you know sorry to those who wanted lewd and graphic.)

I adored Flat Out Love.Adored it.It was one of the books that first brought me into Indie books. However I think I was confused by Flat-Out Matt.I thought it was going to be an entire book written in Matt's eyes.I had trouble connecting to Matt in this book.I fully connected with his character in Flat Out Love and For some reason I just couldn't connect with him here. It's not a bad book by any means its just I think I was expecting a bit more oomph.I mean I've been waiting for this book and getting excited for it since I heard Jessica Park was going to do it.I just feel there was so much built up to it that once I got it I was let down.Im still a huge fan of Flat out Love though.

*REVIEW*Reasons I Fell for the Funny Fat Friend By Becca Ann

January 7, 2013
It's stupid to fall for your brother's ex. It's even worse to enlist another's help to win the ex over. But Brody is desperate and Hayley, his partner in American Sign Language, is more than willing to lend him a few tips. She’s the school’s ‘matchmaker’, and with her bizarre and positive personality, Brody finds her easy to talk too, even about the most awkward situations. Hayley’s tips seem to be working, but as Brody learns more about his matchmaker, he starts finding reasons to spend time with her, and not the girl he thought he was in love with.

But Hayley isn’t ready to fall for anyone. Labeled the “Funny Fat Friend” within her group, her self image makes it impossible for Brody to share his feelings without Hayley shrugging it off as a joke.

Convincing her Brody can, and did, fall for the “Funny Fat Friend” turns out to be a lot harder than simply falling in love.

REVIEW
5 STARS..For Amazon but Le'BookSquirrel feels it TOPS that.
Usually I am hesitant to read a book from a guys point of view.Normally if im going to be reading a book with a guys point of view I will at least read a book where the point of view switches. However let it be said Right now..I take it all back.Any negative thought I had on a full guys point of view book. Becca Ann has nailed it.I had no idea teenage guys were so in depth.I liked being able to see from a guys point of view his feelings on a girl.I LOVED that this isnt the stereotypical teenage book..I mean where the girl and guy are so utterly confidant.I like that the characters aren't perfect.I wanted to smack Hayley's mom so bad with how she degraded her.For all the girls out there reading this. You are perfect. You are wonderful. You are NOT your clothing size.YOU.ARE BEAUTIFUL.I absolutely LOVE Reasons I Fell for the Funny Fat Friend.I am definitely looking forward to more books by Becca Ann.If you haven't read this book for some reason You need to get on it and start reading.Once you start you will not want to put it down.

This book is about Lily and her dealing with her father leaving and her mothers reaction to it.Her best friend is Andy and he suddenly starts acting super jealous when his brother Gabe comes home.Gabe and Lily have never gotten along but things are going to change this year.
This book was emotionally well written .It felt sometimes like there was quite a bit going on.From Lily's mom becoming an alcohlic to her dad leaving to Gabe and Lily's new relationship. There is ALOT going on.I think sometimes it isnt clear how much time had passed in the book and that was a tiny bit confusing.I did not understand why Gabe and Lily had so much drama all the time either.I mean here this girl is going through something horrible(I wont mention what due to it being a spoiler) and then the 2 of them break up not once but about 3 times.I just wanted to yell at them to stop acting so immature. The writing was great and its definitely a book to read.I really enjoyed the ending and would love to see a second book or a novella continuing Lily and Gabe's life in college. All in All a great read and one you will want to pick up the next time your looking for something to hunker down on your couch and read .Job Well Done Stephanie Witter.

Will Natalie and Nolan stick together? Can they hold on to what they've worked so hard to keep going?
Love was found. Their only hope is that it never gets lost

Excerpt:

Nolan’s hands work their way down to my jeans and he unbuttons them. My back arches, allowing him to continue. He slides my jeans off before crushing my lips with his. I shut my eyes, ready to enjoy the feeling. I’ve wanted this for so long.
His finger sneaks beneath my panties and slowly slides into me. I moan and he groans as he rubs the flesh between. I pull his head down to kiss him again—to keep the intimacy going. His tongue plays and coaxes mine. I hear his belt buckle jingle and he adjusts himself to get his pants down but our lips never part. He presses himself against me and my stomach tightens. I grip his T-shirt but he pulls back to tug it over his head.
He glares down at me, as if I’m the only person on this entire planet that he wants. He’s all that I want. I know that he feels the same way. Leaning down, Nolan’s lips press against my neck and then kiss their way down to my breasts. He tugs my shirt over my head, pulls my bra down, and then licks my nipples. Heat sparks and I feel myself building up. My eyes squeeze shut from the erotic feeling. His mouth is like magic as it licks and sucks. He begins to move southward, and my legs tighten around him but he presses his palms against the inside of my thighs to keep me still and available to him.
I look down and watch as he bites on his bottom lip while pulling my panties down. Quickly, his hot tongue slides between my slick folds and I gasp through my teeth as he swirls it around my sweet area. I can really feel myself building up now. I want nothing but him inside of me—nothing but his hard body against mine. I want to mold and fill the room up with our steam and sweat.
My moans and pants pick up and then he pulls back. “Not yet,” he says against my lips.

Im so torn with this Review of Hurt Like Hell By London Casey.Oye.First of all It states it is New Adult Contemporary Romance..It is actually in my opinion should be Paranormal as Jack is a ghost,or something like a ghost. This was a bit of a confusion since I was not expecting this when I started reading it.Im not saying the book is bad..But im saying that it is confusing. This book was good.It wasn't great but it wasnt poor either. It has serious potential but it's almost as though in the beginning you could feel the emotion from the book and the contemporary feel to it and then suddenly it veers left and goes to paranormal.I enjoyed Tessa's character and even Jack.I feel they were a bit rushed in the book and would have liked to see a few more chapters or just slow it down a small bit.The ending was fast paced and I liked the ending and I think that was my favorite part of the book.I just again wish it had slowed down slightly.I LOVED the beginning of the book..It was just a bit confusing.I think it is a good start for London Casey and Wish her the best of Luck in her Writing Career.

Book Spotlight/Review *Saving Wishes By GJ Walker-Smith

February 10, 2013
For Charli Blake, being seventeen is a tough gig.
She's been branded a troublemaker, her reputation is in tatters and she's stuck in Pipers Cove, a speck of a town on the coast of Tasmania.
Thankfully, it's temporary. Her lifelong dream of travelling the world is just months away from becoming reality. All she has to do is ride out the last few months of high school, which is easier said than done thanks to a trio of mean girls known as The Beautifuls.
When Adam Décarie arrives in town, all the way from New York, life takes an unexpected turn. His arrival sets off a chain of events that alters her life forever, convincing her of one thing. Fate brought him to her.
Saving Wishes is the story of a girl who doesn't quite fit the life she's living, and the boy who helps her realise why.

EXCERPT:
Alex’s smile disappeared along with her, and an eerie silence set in. It was as if we’d all witnessed a terrible train crash and were too shocked to speak. I could feel his glare but kept my eyes on the front door.
“You have ten seconds to explain,” he informed me.
I punched out the explanation so quickly, I had five seconds to spare. I could almost see his mind ticking over as he processed my confession.
“Of all the stupid things to do.” His reproach was warranted, and defending myself would only have added fuel to an already raging fire. “You’re like a mini terrorist. Are you trying to get us run out of town?”
Gabrielle’s tried to stop a giggle escaping. I turned my attention to Adam
“I think it was ingenious,” he murmured, revealing the dimple on his cheek.
“You are too easily charmed,” complained Alex, waving his hands as if he was showcasing the major prize in a game show. “Charli Blake is the kind of girl your mother warned you about, Adam. Nothing but trouble.”
So much for defending me to the death! If he hadn’t been so worked up it would have been funny. The only people in the room game enough to see the humour were those of French lineage.
“I would be more than happy to claim her,” Adam told him.
“Me too,” added Gabrielle, much to my surprise.
Alex shook his head. He marched to the front door and flipped the sign, declaring the shop shut for the rest of the day.
“Are you closing?” asked Gabrielle, checking her watch. “It’s early.”
“I’m done. If I don’t get out of here, I might explode,” he muttered, pushing past me to collect his coat.
I knew Alex was close to breaking point. Escaping the café before he had a chance to lock the door seemed like a good idea. I reached for Adam’s hand. “I’ll see you later.” I moved quickly, giving Alex no chance of calling me back. Adam turned to face him as we reached the door.
“I’ll have her home early.”
“I honestly don’t care,” Alex said wearily.
He sounded broken. For a horrible second I wondered if I’d finally pushed him too far. Perhaps in the process of slaying the Beautiful dragons I’d accidently assassinated my white knight too. I peeked at my brother. “Do you mean that?” My voice was small because I feared his answer.
Alex looked back at me for a long time. He didn’t look angry any more, just beaten. “No,” he said simply. And I believed him.

*REVIEW* Freshman Forty By Christine Duval

February 20, 2013
When eighteen-year-old Laurel Harris discovers she’s pregnant four weeks into the start of her freshman year at prestigious Colman College, she has all intentions of telling her emotionally-distant father. But being away at school makes it too easy to hide. And while she can’t explain to her friends, or to herself even, the reasons why she doesn’t want the baby’s father to find out about the pregnancy, the rest of her world begins to unravel.

Freshman year is hard enough. Most girls get through by forming close friendships, finding new boys and a phone call from mom or dad on Sunday. Laurel has to navigate all of it while hiding an unplanned pregnancy from a summer fling....

An imperfect heroine plagued by bad choices and haunted by the memory of her deceased mother and grandparents, readers are sure to identify with Laurel as she confronts teen pregnancy, in secret, in a remote college setting.----------
REVIEW
 4.5 STARS

Freshman Forty is the story of Laurel Harris who finds out she is pregnant at the beginning of her freshman year at college. She hides it from friends and family.I found that I really enjoyed this story.I did find the Heroine making bad choices and the fact that she hid it from people was not a good choice. However She had her reasons.I ended up really liking Laurel and the friends she made.Laurels father was not a good father so I can see why she chose not to tell him.I think it is a bit unbelievable though to have to hide a pregnancy in college nowadays as people do go to college when pregnant.Laurel just had issue up issue when it came up to telling her dad and the father of her baby.Between weddings, babies and accidentally deleted messages Laurel didn't stand a chance.I loved that the writing flowed so smoothly and What a great Debut Novel By Christine Duval
What Kept Freshman Forty from being a 5 star book was in my opinion the book ended somewhat abruptly.Knowing the Author has plans to make a sequel helps me feel better about the ending..but it nevertheless just ended rather soon for such a emotionally paced book.I would definitely recommend this to friends and I look forward to reading the sequel when that comes out.

*BOOK SPOTLIGHT*The Earth Painter By Melissa Turner Lee

When a self-conscious young woman discovers the boy in drama class is actually the immortal who painted the world into being, she becomes the target of another painter who hates humanity. The Earth Painter is a Young Adult Supernatural Romance set in the small mill town of Chesnee, SC. It revolves around Holly Scruggs, who's family has just moved back to Chesnee after her dad lost his job along with pretty much everything they owned. Her image conscious parents correct her to the point of brokenness until she meets Theo. He is the artist responsible for all the beauty of the land and he thinks Holly is beautiful too. Together they will fight against Fritz, the water painter who hates humans and is hiding a secret under the high school.

Guest Post by Melissa Turner Lee

I’ve always loved anything weird or different. As a child I loved The Twilight Zone. Anything strange or bizarre got my attention. In school I loved studying Edgar Allen Poe's work. I've always loved romance too. Until recently, a story could be one or the other. I’m thrilled to be writing in a time when Paranormal Romance is so popular. I can make a story about falling in love, but with that extra twist that keeps it from being the same-old-same-old.
The Earth Painter is my first attempt and it is different even for the genre. No vampires, angels or lycanthropes. My story has painters—immortal painters who were once given the job of painting the world into being. And then there is Holly, a human girl who becomes aware of it all and falls in love with a painter named Theo. But it’s more than a love story. Holly discovers who she is, what she is meant for and her own beauty. Plus she lives the everyday life of a teen. Her best friend has issues that impact Holly in a serious way. And Holly’s mom is a piece of work. Never in my life have I only had one issue at a time, so I write my character’s lives the same way. There are lots of layers.
So if you like your romance with a twist of different, or your different with a twist of romance, either/or, then I hope you will try my book, The Earth Painter. It’s like peanut butter with chocolate. They are great alone but together they are awesome.

How To Date A Nerd
By Cassie Mae
Pub Date TBA

Zoe has a great pair of legs, perky boobs, and wears exactly what she needs to show it all off. She works hard for the easy sleazy ‘you only wish you were me’ reputation, burying who she really is—an all-out nerd.

The only time Zoe gets to be herself is when she hides under her comforter to read X-Men comics, sending jealousy stabs at everyone who attends Comic-Con. Keeping up her popular rep is too important, and she’s so damn insecure to care about the consequences. But when Zoe’s sister takes her car for a ‘crash and burn into a tree’ joyride, her parents get her a replacement. A manual. Something she doesn’t know how to operate, but her next door neighbor Zak sure as heck does.

Zak’s a geek to the core, shunned by everyone in school for playing Dungeons and Dragons at lunch and wearing “Use the Force” t-shirts. And Zoe’s got it bad for the boy. Only Zak doesn’t want Popular Zoe. He wants Geek Zoe.

She has to shove her insecurities and the fear of dropping a few rungs on the social ladder aside to prove to Zak who she really is and who she wants to be… if she can figure it out herself.

WOW.After Math Blew me away..The story is about Scarlett and Tucker.Scarlett is a math tutor and Tucker needs a Math tutor due to being on Academic Probation. They both have harsh pasts and have to overcome those to figure out whats best for each other.
The Good...This book drags you in and drowns you in emotion.I fell in love with Scarlett and Tucker. They both have pretty bad pasts and they are both emotional wrecks.I do not rate many books up there with Jamie McGuire's Beautiful Disaster but this is one I would rate up there with it. The Not so Good: I think it could have been a bit longer.I think some parts were rushed.Especially towards the end.I think a few chapters more would have added to the book.I loved that there was an epilogue though.I would definitely be interested in reading a 2nd book with them.I mean the stuff they are dealing with could totally be turned into another book.Although its really not needed.Just wanted by this mere Blogger.Pretty Please with a Cherry on Top?Definitely a book you MUST read!!!!

As if in slow motion, the world spun. The front fender of the truck slammed into us from behind, and everything lurched forward. Bags, arms, clothes, sailed by my head. The muffled sound of screams were lost somewhere in a tumultuous roar as the van hit a pothole, and we began to roll. Cold metal crushed in on me, and the splintering sound of gunshots echoed in my ears...

                                   Release Date:November 2011
                                                     (Cover is different on Amazon)
‘If she’d waited less than two weeks, she’d be June who died in June. But I guess my sister didn’t consider that.’

Harper Scott’s older sister has always been the perfect one — so when June takes her own life a week before her high school graduation, sixteen-year-old Harper is devastated. Everyone’s sorry, but no one can explain why.

When her divorcing parents decide to split her sister’s ashes into his-and-her urns, Harper takes matters into her own hands. She’ll steal the ashes and drive cross-country with her best friend, Laney, to the one place June always dreamed of going — California.

Enter Jake Tolan. He’s a boy with a bad attitude, a classic-rock obsession and nothing in common with Harper’s sister. But Jake had a connection with June, and when he insists on joining them, Harper’s just desperate enough to let him. With his alternately charming and infuriating demeanour and his belief that music can see you through anything, he might be exactly what she needs.

Except June wasn’t the only one hiding something. Jake’s keeping a secret that has the power to turn Harper’s life upside down — again.

Dust is a story of a Pixie called Rosalie who is captured and forced into slave labor. She tries to flee and is put into a lockdown area so to speak where she meets Jack.Jack is a Fairy and Rosalie is a pixie. They dont mix. This was a first fairy book for me and what an adventure it was.The emotions were all there.Everytime Rosalie's wings were broken I flinched.Devon Ashley knows how to write emotionally.I think my issue was the quickness of the read and how the book ended at what felt like its Climax. It just kind of was a real bummer to get to this certain part in the book and then it end, slightly disappointing.Im giving this book 5 stars because of the way the well the writing was and how in-tuned to the characters I was.I will admit I am disappointed that Book 2 is not out and that I cannot even find a summary of it.I hope it is not to much longer. All in All a GREAT fairy read.

*Review* Monster ARC By Julia Sykes

 Monster(Impossible Book 1)
By Julia Sykes
Genre:Erotic Romance

He forces her to save the life of his best friend, Sean Reynolds, under threat of death. But when her task is complete, Sean decrees that she can’t be allowed to leave; she knows too much. Claudia is resentful of her captors, desperate to escape. But the more time she spends trapped with Sean, the harder she finds it to cling to her hatred for him. He is an enigma of a man, one who is shockingly arrogant, sweetly contrite, and frighteningly aggressive by turns. And the sexual tension between them is scorching. The longer she remains in his grip, the more confused she becomes about what she must do. Is her freedom worth betraying him?

Warning: This book contains graphic language and scorching sex scenes involving BDSM.

Note: This is NOT a paranormal romance!

-------------------------------------------
*Possible spoilers(but to be honest nothing that isnt in the synopsis)

Whew,Monster is the story about Claudia and how she was kidnapped to save the life of Sean.Claudia has to deal with not only being captured and having to work under duress But the one thing that throws her for a loop falling for Sean. She struggles with the fact that he is her Captor and all she wants to do is tear his clothes off.Monster is a decently paced book. Not too fast but not too slow.Just right. I'll be honest I've read books where there was just to much eroticness (is that a word?) and not enough book.Monster has both Julia Sykes nailed it on the head and her writing is on par with the big names out there.I look forward to Book 2 in the Monster Series.Monster is the perfect start to this series.I look forward to seeing where Claudia and Sean go from here...Heck I just look forward to reading more from Julia Sykes. If you enjoy Erotic Romance then this is a series you are NOT going to want to miss.
